Marilyn Susan Ball, 82, of Englewood, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on November 9, 1942, in Vancouver, BC, Canada, to Joseph and Rosina Magri.

On December 1, 1962, Marilyn married the love of her life, Ernest (Ernie) Ball, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Together, they were among the founding members of St. Mary Catholic Church, where Marilyn remained an active and devoted member until her health no longer permitted. Her faith and commitment to her community were central to her life.

Marilyn was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She adored her family, often sharing stories and moments of pride about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in her children, Christopher (Karen) Ball of Daphne, AL, and Lisa (Jody) Derrick of Etowah, TN; and in her grandchildren, Allyson (Ryan) Weatherby, Samantha (Bradley) Arnette, Cassandra Ball, Gabriell Ball, Jake (Jessica) Derrick, and Josh (Katie) Derrick. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Giana Ball, Ivey Ball, Beckett Arnette, Wyatt Arnette, Maxwell Weatherby, Alexander Weatherby, Miles Dorsey, Bayleigh Hall, Luke Hall, Carter Derrick, and Olivia Derrick.

In addition to her devotion to family, Marilyn spent many years volunteering with the McMinn Regional Humane Society, an endeavor that held deep personal significance for her. She was known for her compassionate spirit and her dedication to helping animals in need.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of NHC Healthcare Athens and Hospice of Chattanooga for their compassionate care during Marilyn’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Marilyn’s honor to the McMinn Regional Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at Poole Funeral Home of Etowah, 300 North Tennessee Ave; Etowah, TN. A memorial service will start at 4 PM in the chapel. There will be a Catholic Mass held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at a later date.
