Dorothy Saffel

Dorothy Saffell, age 97, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on October 14, 2019.  She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and retired from First National Bank of Etowah.  Dorothy was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church of Etowah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peeler Witt and Birdie Hicks Witt; husband, Sam H. Saffell,Jr.; one son Jimmy Sykes; five brothers; and two sisters.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter and spouse, Alice Jean and Thomas M. Brown of Olathe, KS; three grandsons and spouses, Todd Hancock and Heather of Athens, Chris Brown of Olathe, KS, Drew Brown and Natasa of Sanford, Florida; and one granddaughter Misty Sykes of Naples, Florida; one great grandson, Seth Hancock and one great granddaughter, Taylor Hancock. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Serenity of Etowah Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel.  The visitation will begin at 12 noon prior to the Memorial service with the burial to follow at approximately 3:00 p.m. at Green Hill Cemetery in Etowah.
